Jimmy Lockett studied composition and orchestration,
at The Juilliard School and Mannes College in New York as well as
arranging, orchestration, piano, voice and theatre arts at the Southeastern
Academy of Theatre and Music in Atlanta, GA, The Karamu House in
Cleveland, OH and through extensive private study.
Jimmy is proud to have been a member of the final Broadway
cast of CATS where he appeared as Old Deuteronomy for three years.
His prior appearances on and Off-Broadway include Big River, The
Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber at Radio City Music Hall, Little Shop
of Horrors and with Harry Belafonte at the Schubert Theatre.
Jimmy played the role of Poppa in the first National tour
and the Las Vegas Production of Starlight Express. Other National
and International tours include: Big River (1st National Tour),
Little Shop of Horrors (Toronto), The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber
(National Tour with Michael Crawford and International Tour with
Sarah Brightman), and the National Tour of CATS.
Jimmy appeared on television in a recurring role on the
daytime television drama All My Children. He has also appeared on
a number of variety and entertainment shows ranging from The Tonight
Show to The Joe Franklin Show and in many National Commercials for
products including; IBM, Budweiser, Heineken and several others.
On film, Jimmy appeared with Bill Cosby and Sidney Poitier in Let’s
Do It Again and in Funny Money with Sid Caesar and Shelly Hack.
Jimmy has performed in an uncountable number of night clubs,
casinos, lounges, resorts, restaurants and hotels, throughout the
United States.
As a composer, Jimmy had the World Premier of his classical
piece, Fantasia for Cello and Piano, with the Opus Dance Ensemble
in Las Vegas. As arranger and/or orchestrator he has written for
a wide variety of acts and shows in a broad range of styles and
instrumentation. Most recently Jimmy served as orchestrator and
incidental music arranger for the World Premier of the new musical,
Just Another Man, starring Clint Holmes. He also served as Musical
Director and Arranger for the concert version of the Las Vegas Musical,
ALL IN – The Poker Musical for which he also arranged and
produced the concept CD. In March 2009 one of his arrangements was
performed by the Las Vegas Philharmonic in their Pops Series with
Brent Barrett the Las Vegas Phantom of the Opera.
Jimmy is working on a major symphonic composition and is
the author of two new plays and 'Vegas shows in various stages of
production through his multi-media music production company, J.O.L. Productions. As a performer he is focusing his energy on
his upcoming CD entitled, Symphonic Blues.
